Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind? (Aug 27/28)


A metaphor I would use to describe my mind is a restless bird because my mind is always working and thinking about all kinds of things, my future, school, and other personal things. I've always been more thinker than an outspoken person, but I can be both at times. 


Reflection: Today, we read another Dickinson poem, "I Felt a Funeral in my Brain," and "Heart! We will forget him". 


Summary; The first poem was very dark and sad how she didnt have anyone to help nor did she go and get help but I loved the second poem beacause it had a very good message.

 The time I felt like an Interloper was when I went out with my friend to an event, and some people that we always see at school were there too, but it seemed like they were only speaking to my friend instead of both of us. It wasn't a nice feeling that night; the situation just affected me personally. You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

 Class has been okay so far; people don't really engage like that, but I'm the same when it comes to things. The blogs I've been struggling with the most are the ones I've been trying to turn in on time. I still do it just like 1 day late.  Summary:  Read 3 poems by Emily Dickinson about death.  Reflection: The poems were deep and centered around death, so the poems really put you in a position to think about your life.
