Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

I take a pause to appreciate the beauty of nature every day when I walk to the bus. I notice that in the summer, the trees were bright green, and the flowers bloomed. As fall approached, the leaves on the trees started to fall to the ground. I noticed the effects on plants every season.

Summary:  read a poem as a class and then start on reading a poem by ourselves to create a one-pager

Reflection: My poem was easy to understand. It's about a man who is very familiar with the night.

Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).
