(Nov 12) In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

The gypsy rose case was one of the craziest news stories I have heard of. Basically Gypsy- Rose Blanchard worked together with her online boyfriend to murder her mom because of what her mom had done to her for 18 years of her life. Her mom's name was Dee-Dee. She wanted to be a caretaker, so she faked and induced illness in her daughter Gypsy Rose. The story stood out to me because it questioned my morality on whether murder can be justified. People were conflicted, some sided with the mom, and some sided with Gyspy Rose, it kind of shows how far some people would go to keep someone in their life.

Summary: Continue the short story, and then work on the worksheet

Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).
