After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

The mask represents the pressure to fit in and hide who you really are because that is what most people do. A mask is used to hide, for example, in one moment in the video, a girl with a different colored mask took off her mask to put on a different mask to fit in with the red masks. This can connect with the poem "I, Too by Langston Hughes because he had to hide himself in the kitchen so others could be comfortable. I want my mask to reveal me as a person, not just where I'm from.

Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).
