Final

Today I recited a poem titled "This is My Letter to the World." and here is my poster

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

My first semester as a junior in Mrs. Rease's class was good. I feel like this course definitely challenged my time management skills, which are not very good as they should be, but it's improved because of this cousre like learning how to turn in my work on time and commuicate to teachers about my work if I could not finish before the deadline. I enjoyed the up-to-date discussion in this class and work. I especially like the mask project because I like to talk about myself and the interests that I have. I will work on my time management as we move into the spring semester. \

Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).`

Celebrating Ramadan is important, but one tradition I do during Ramadan is eating together, laughing, and telling jokes to one another. This still matters to me because I like to be in my family's business.  Summary: chill day  Reflection: chill day

How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Holidays have changed a lot since I got older because the hoilday spirt seems to not be there anymore, I do not celebrate certain holidays like christmass but I still love the feeling of chirtmass and the mood, vibe it gives when i was chirtmass morning I would wake up to go outside and I would see all the kids playing with their new toys outside but now the kids don't go outside anymore. There's no more Christmas spirit in my opinion.  Summary: Vocabulary Monday  Reflection: Had to take my quiz, I passed, of course.

Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss. (Dec 12)

Playing pretend, I miss pretending I'm one of the Barbies in the different Barbie movies, or that I'm a Winx character. Summary: poem  Reflection:  I came late.

Write about something that you can't stop thinking about. (Dec 10)

I've always wondered what my future would be like, and whether my future would be from my own decisions or fate, as in any decision I make will not matter because my future is probably already decided.   Summary: media day

Mask project (Dec 9)

The creation of my mask was pretty good and easy because it was about myself, and I don't have difficulty expressing where I am from and who I am as a person.  Summary: Presentations  Reflection: The presentations were good. I liked hearing about different people's hobbies and where they are from.

Write about the best gift you have received. (Dec 8)

The best gift I have ever received was a Barbie doll house because at that time I was really into Barbie dolls, and I would always express that I wanted a house for my Barbies.  Summary: Vocabulary Monday.  Reflection: I didn't feel good, but I still was able to get half of the work done.

After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

The mask represents the pressure to fit in and hide who you really are because that is what most people do. A mask is used to hide, for example, in one moment in the video, a girl with a different colored mask took off her mask to put on a different mask to fit in with the red masks. This can connect with the poem "I, Too by Langston Hughes because he had to hide himself in the kitchen so others could be comfortable. I want my mask to reveal me as a person, not just where I'm from.

“We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?

Wearing lashes in Middle School, all my friends wore lashes. It wasn't the simple lashes, it was the dramatic ones, thick and long lashes, and I wanted to wear them because everyone else was, even though my mom was against wearing lashes during my Middle School years. I still wore lashes; they were heavy and ugly, but I came to realize that, as I got older, the thick, long lashes did not look good for me. Big is not always good; sometimes being simple can go a long way, so I stopped wearing lashes and found a better way to wear lashes that still gives me the look I want.  Summary: Read a poem I, Too by Langston Hughes  Reflection: I like the poem.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

My break was definitely interesting. My family doesn't really celebrate Thanksgiving ever since my grandma stopped cooking, so I would just go to my best friend's family to celebrate with them, but this year I couldn't go because I had to do my hair, so my friend was just going to bring me a plate of food instead she put lots of food portions on my plate like mac and chesse, greens, stuffing, corn, turkey, and some mash potatos but before she can give it to me someone else stole my plate and left.  Summary:  vocabulary
