Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind? (Aug 27/28)

A metaphor I would use to describe my mind is a restless bird because my mind is always working and thinking about all kinds of things, my future, school, and other personal things. I've always been more thinker than an outspoken person, but I can be both at times.  Reflection: Today, we read another Dickinson poem, "I Felt a Funeral in my Brain," and "Heart! We will forget him".  Summary; The first poem was very dark and sad how she didnt have anyone to help nor did she go and get help but I loved the second poem beacause it had a very good message.

Write about an adventure you would like to go on. (Aug 26)

I would like to go on a treasure-finding adventure. I think that it's cool to find old treasure with a map.  Summary: First half of class we finished presentations, and in the second half learn about poet. Reflection: listened to the presentation and learned about a poet.

Describe something you will never fully understand. (Aug 25)

I never understood that you have to listen to adults even when it might not be right in your eyes, and then if you don't listen, it's seen as if you are a disrespectful child, but there is a difference between bad authority and good authority. Bad authority, they just think whatever they say goes, no matter what, but good authority, they state what it is, why they are telling, and some are even open to having a conversation where both parties are happy.

Write about something that you wish you had more of. (Aug 22)

I wish I had more of a connection with my dad  Summary: Worked on our myth digital poster.  Reflection:  I worked on my last paragraph for my origin myth story and started on my poster.

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

The most creative thing I made was a clay art piece in Ghana at my dad's school, it was a heart-shaped teacup, which is just my best work because of the kids I was surrounded by when making it. That was the best experience I had in Ghana.  Summary: Today, we continue our origin myth story, but with a digital poster that explains our story  Reflection:   I finished up my story and started on my poster a little bit.

Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

Are there other life species outside of Earth, like Aliens? Are they real, and is there a purpose for human existence? I always ask myself questions like these because there has to be more than what I see every day. I mean, space is huge, so there have to be other living things in space, too, can't be only humans, but if humans and animals are the only living things in space, then what is our purpose? This question is important to me because maybe we are the beginning of something that will evolve soon.  Summary:   We are starting our own origin myth story on Writable Planner.  Reflection:   I had to think a lot about how to start my origin myth. I decided to include a giant monkey, and a gorilla I think my story is better, cool. The theme is to always be grateful for what you have.

Describe a time you felt completely lost.

A time I felt lost was my 9th-grade year in Lakeside High School, which was new to me and bigger than any school I've been to before. And it was 7 classes I had to go to, and we only had 5 minutes to make it to each class. The first day, I'll say it took me 10 minutes to make it to each class.  Summary: In class, we listened to everyone's presentation about the different things in the "Jealous Father" story, like setting, conflict resolution, theme, and alternate endings.  Reflection:  I listened to everyone's presentation, and I was a little nervous to present, but I think I did okay.

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress

I've adapted the demands of this work by doing each task I need to on time and listening to instructions. I've learned time management with this class and other classes too, to make sure I get my homework done. One challenge I anticipated was getting the work done before the due date, but as we progress, it's been easy for me to do all my assignments this week  We took a quiz on Illuminate on myth origins and worked on our group project.  I've learned to read deeper into the text to get the partial answer.

Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

The time I felt jealousy that negatively affected a relationship I had was when I was in 4th grade, and I had a phone, an Android. I thought I was the best first person in my class to have a phone. I was on top of the world, and my childhood friend didn't have a phone until Christmas. She came to school and showed me her brand new iPhone, it was red, the newest one too, and I felt jealous as all the kids looked at her phone. She was the cool one inside the classroom now; nobody wanted to look at my phone anymore. I stopped talking to her.  We worked on a group project about The Jealous Father, assigned roles to each group partner.  I worked on reading The Jealous Father and anazlying for the group to make it easier.

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

A meaningful place in my life that carries a story is my grandma's house in Ghana, Africa. It was where I grew up during a part of my life, a place all my cousins would come and stay, and enjoy the peace, the smell of good food in the morning, afternoon, and dinner, knowing everyone around the area would not worry about someone hurting you either but the most important part was I got to learn where my parents come from and how it was growing up in ghana.  We read about the Navajo and annotated anything important in the story.  I learned the allusions shown in the story of Noah's Ark, and the First Man and First Woman. The story was about how Earth was created in the hands of divine beings

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

The time I felt connected to nature was when I was around 10 or 11 years old, outside with my childhood friend and my sister. We were playing in the playground when we felt little raindrops hit our skin. My friend said we should go and talk to Mother Nature, begging her not to let it rain because we didn't want to go home. So we all went around the back of some building where the woods were, and we screamed with our lungs, "Please don't let it rain, Mother Nature, please." We repeated this like 5 times, and surprisingly, the raindrops slowly stopped.  We took notes today about Native American literature and talked about the different vocabulary we will be learning.  I learned the difference between a myth and an urban legend today.
